Sorry it took me so long. But I had a HELL of a time finding photos of the actors that I liked. But all things considered, I liked the way that this turned out.
The casting breaks down as follows:
Eva Green - Phedre no Delaunay John Rhys-Meyers - Joscelin Verreuil Cameron Bright - Imriel de la Courcel Sophie Okonedo - Kaneka Adoni Maropis - The Mahrkagir (yes, I am aware of the irony that my choice of the guy to play the Mahrkagir is named 'Adoni' Adrian Grenier - Hyacinthe Scarlett Johansson - Ysandre de la Courcel Angelina Jolie - Melisande Shahrizai
I also had a few others in mind, such as:
Lena Heady - Drucilla Lawrence Makoare - Gashtaham (he was the Witch-King and Gothmog in Return of the King) Dalip Singh - Tahmuras Garrett Hedlund - Erich the Skaldi Erick Avari - Ptolemy Dikaios Brendan Gleeson - Quintilius Rousse (of course) Karl Urban - Drustan mab Necthana
The only casting (for the entire Kushiel's Legacy series) that I haven't been able to really pin down is Barquiel L'Envers. Part of me says the Brian Cox would be good for the part, but physically he seems too stocky for it....meh. I'm open to suggestions (for conversation's sake).
For the tagline of the poster, I drew from one of my favorite scenes in the book: the part where Phedre goes to the Temple of Kushiel and converses with Michel Nevers. I really felt that that line (and this scene) really acted as a kind of overture for the entire book. For this scene, I would want a really great cameo - something like Christopher Lambert at Nevers.
Probably the most difficult part of visually adapting this book into a film poster is the fact that Drujan really only takes up half of the book and the rest is the journey to Saba and quest for Hyacinthe. However, I decided that if this movie were to be adapted to film, most of that latter half could be condensed into montages of travel and there's no way that this, as a movie, would be less than 3 hours. At least half of it would focus on Drujan.
This is also a testament to how typography-challenged I am. I had a different version posted right before this one with a different font for the title...totally unaware that it wasn't the same font as the other posters! And I couldn't for the life of me remember which one I used before! Grrrrrr!!!!! Luckily (after systematically comparing every damn font on photoshop side-by-side) I found it and reposted it. I knew that I would hate myself forever if I let something like that slide when I was THIS close to being done with the series.
Anyway, here's the final poster for the Kushiel's Legacy series! I don't know if I'll do posters for the Imriel saga. I decided to take a break from Carey for a while, and I'll probably pick her up again after the Imriel series is finished. For now, I'm onto other projects. Enjoy!
I have just started reading them and am currently half through Kushiel's Chosen. Already the story has captured my heart. Anyway, I have been silently wishing they might make a movie. Maybe someday they will. Also wonderful job choosing Adrian Grenier!

ADORED XD Though I don't agree with Melisande being played by Jolie, but I'm probably biased. Not a fan of Jolie, though Melisande is my fave char of ALL FRICKEN TIME XD Closely followed by Imriel and Mavros, of course
